Biography

Florida Today dubbed Palmer “the ultimate small business person”. He ran his own advertising firm in upstate New York and currently owns his own radio & tv broadcast company. He is also an award winning singer/songwriter.

Rhett Palmer was born in upstate New York to hard-working, middle class parents. His gift for media was evident at an early age. He became motivated to succeed, sharing his writing abilities in the form of a 4th grade newspaper. His writing exhibited a maturity not displayed by most youngsters his age.

Palmer's career as a talk show host began at a July 4th celebration at Dodgertown in 1993. His solid publicity appearances on local radio brought about a life-changing offer to host a program. Palmer took control of what was considered by most to be a "boring" one day per week show on the AM dial and transformed the broadcast into a three-hour forum running weekdays on WFLA 1370. His keen intellect, sharp wit, and masterful interviewing skills brought "The Florida Show" to prominence, attracting both listeners and sponsors from Treasure Coast communities.

TV10 Live is inclusive to all citizens with something to offer, a fact that Palmer takes great pride in. " Everyone is welcome on my shows, from the average working person to celebrities, you all have a voice." Riverside National Bank presented Palmer with the "Hometown Hero Award" for his contributions to local radio.

Rhett has had the privilege of interviewing a long list of prominent people from political figures to entertainers. The list includes: Secretary of State, Colin Powell; Former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford; Reverend Billy Graham, Tommy Lee Jones, Garth Brooks, Los Angeles Dodgers Manager, Tommy Lasorda; Dr. Robert Schuller; Carly Simon; and "60 Minutes" veteran Mike Wallace. Local figures appearing with Palmer include novelist David Hagberg; The Jungle Trail's Richard Jones; Ralph W. Sexton; and other interesting parties who illustrate life in Indian River County.

Active in many charities, Palmer “put his money where his mouth is ” by publicizing humanitarian efforts of the Salvation Army, Junior League, March of Dimes, Homeless Assistance Center, and Habitat for Humanity. His participation in missionary and food-distribution voyages to impoverished places like Africa and Haiti are a fine example of benevolence in a world lacking compassion. The artist has volunteered to help troubled teens in his native state, and has been a guest on Pat Robertson’s 700 Club.
